EULOGY: Sr. Carmela Haugh FMDM. Click here to read. On 4th October 2016, Sister Carmela Haugh, an Irish missionary died peacefully in Franciscan Convent, Ballinasloe, Co Galway, Ireland. She spent many happy years in Zimbabwe. The Requiem Mass was celebrated in Franciscan Convent, Ballinasloe on 7th October 2016 followed by burial at Creagh Cemetery, Ballinasloe.
In 2010, Sister Isobel Loong was missioned to China. During her stay, she helped a local Congregation with their religious formation. Six years later, she was delighted to witness the ceremony of this local Congregation who welcomed two postulants in July 2016. It was truly a joyful occasion for the local church in Haikou. Sister Veronica Lowe who died peacefully in La Verna, Ladywell Convent on Saturday 24th September 2016. Requiem Mass was celebrated on 12th October 2016 followed by burial in Ladywell Cemetery. On Saturday afternoon, 11 September 2016, FMDM Sisters in Ladywell Convent welcomed 50 visitors to explore our historic buildings. As it was a drizzly cloudy day, the tour was confined indoors, although one group ventured outside the building. All in all, our visitors enjoyed their visit. Heritage Open Day in Ladywell
On 9th August 2016, a glorious Summer afternoon, FMDM Sisters were delighted to welcome over 150 visitors to Ladywell Convent for a tour of the grounds followed by a very welcome English tea, home-made scones, strawberry and cream! On 15 August 2016, Anne passed away peacefully in her beloved country, Ireland. She was born in Cork, Ireland on 21 February 1921. Anne had been a dedicated FMDM all her Religious Life – going where she was sent and always enjoying what she did. In 1987, Anne she made a trip to Australia where she worked [...]
