Congratulations to Golden Jubilarians – Srs. Mary Byrne & Brid O’Sullivan
On 2nd August 2017 there was great rejoicing in Ireland when two FMDM sisters – Mary Byrne and Brid O’Sullivan celebrated their Golden Jubilee of Religious Life.
The celebration began with Mass in the Franciscan Convent chapel. Fr. James Connolly OFM Capuchin (who had just returned from Zambia) was the main celebrant and the concelebrants were Fr Jude OFM Capuchin, Fr. Bernie Costello and Fr John Killen. The specially chosen joyful hymns and prayers were very uplifting. Sr. Denise Boyle gave the sharing at Mass.
The celebration was enhanced by Mr. Sean O’ Healy who accompanied the singing on the keyboard and Sr. Martha Musonda (Zambian) with gentle drumming on the Bodhrán!
Over 85 people joined the Golden Jubilarians for this joyous occasion. Many relatives and friends of the Jubilarians were delighted to share this joyful day with them as well as FMDM Sisters from the various communities in Ireland and two FMDM sisters from Zambia.
It was a great day for Waterford as both Sisters Mary and Bríd are from County Waterford. Although the weather was not so promising initially, the sun shone in the afternoon when families of the two Jubilarians gathered outside in the garden for the group photo!
