Staycation at Ladywell – Franciscan Hospitality

Staycation at LadywellOn 4 August 2015, over 140 visitors came for the STAYCATION at Ladywell Convent in Godalming. They were warmly welcomed by FMDM Sisters who gave a personalized guided tour of the house and grounds. Aside from the tour, the visitors watched a video on the history of the Ladywell Convent and charism of the Congregation.

Some of the visitors have been to Ladywell and invited their friends and families for the Staycation because they enjoyed last year’s visit.  This year we were delighted to welcome Anne Bott, the Mayor of Godalming together with her husband Steve and Town Council staff.

As in our Mission Statement: “In Ladywell we seek to create a hospitable Franciscan place, with a peaceful atmosphere rooted in Gospel values which nurtures life for everyone”, Staycation is an opportunity to extend our Franciscan Hospitality.

The highlight of the day was an English afternoon tea of homemade scones with strawberries and cream. The strawberries were kindly donated by Tuesley Farm.
