Sr. Sarah Jordan FMDM: A Life Remembered (1914-2016)
On 29th March we said goodbye to our dear Sr. Sarah Jordan, the oldest Sister in our Congregation. Sarah’s death came gently almost four months after she celebrated her 101st birthday.
Sarah was born in Co. Antrim in Ireland, one of eight children: she had three brothers and four sisters, including Jane who was also one of our Sisters. Sarah entered as a postulant on the Feast of the Portiuncula, 2nd August 1945. She often said she entered with us by mistake, thinking we were the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa! It was a happy mistake for us, and Sarah did indeed spend most of her long life caring for people in our most remote missions in Zambia. Eulogy of Sr. Sarah Jordan. To read click here.
