The new Assisi Hospice building was officially opened on 1 December 2017 with the presence of the FMDM sisters, our Board, staff, Mt Alvernia Hospital colleagues, friends, donors and supporters. It was a joyous occasion to see everyone’s labour of love, service and support culminating in a new six-storey building where more will be helped.

Archbishop William Goh said a prayer of thanksgiving, for our new hospice and blessings for all who serve our patients. An art piece of Saint Francis, a metal carving of the Saint Francis and his beloved animals, was presented by His Grace William Goh, Minister of Health Mr Gan Kim Yong, Madam Ho Ching, Sister Jane Bertelsen, Ms Anita Fam and Ms Choo Shiu Ling.

Sister Jane Bertelsen, FMDM Congregational Leader, said in her message that relationships are fundamental to our mission, as we reflect Gods relationship with us which is completely loving, compassionate, forgiving, selfless and respectful. May this be the hallmark of Assisi Hospice and may alI who come through our doors – patients, friends and family, staff, volunteers, visitors – leave having had an experience of being cared for, respected and loved.
