First Profession Ceremony in Zimbabwe

CONGRATULATIONS to Salome, Lucy and Amenger

On 10 February 2018, Salome, Lucy and Amenger made their First Profession in the Parish Church of Our Lady of Peace at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Sr Yeyani Nyoni, FMDM leader in Zimbabwe received their vows.   The main celebrant was the Parish Priest Fr Christopher Sibanda and the concelebrants were Fr Nicholas Nkamba and Fr  Adrian Ndlovu CMM, who was the homilist. Fr Adrian is the Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish in Bulawayo where our convent “Mater Dei” is situated.

At the end of the Mass the three newly professed were missioned and received their appointments from Sr Jane Bertelsen, Congregational Leader.  Sr Elvine Msimuko read their appointments.  Sr Lucy and Salome have been appointed to Mater Dei Convent, Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, and Patience to St Francis Convent, Yola in Nigeria.

Eight fmdms travelled from Zambia to be present for the great day.  We also welcomed four young Zimbabwean women who are either aspirants or candidates with us.  After four days of very heavy rain we were grateful that the sun shone down upon us.  The very joyful Mass lasted three hours and included beautiful singing and dancing accompanied  by drums and shakers.
