Celebrating the Feast of Pentecost

PENTECOST SUNDAY

Pentecost web

On Pentecost Sunday, the apostles were filled with ‘tongues of fire’. Whilst language is a great tool for communicating, we know that there are other ways of communication besides words. In St. Luke’s account of Pentecost, we find two powerful symbols of wind and fire, both symbols of energy.

Oscar Romero who on Pentecost Sunday 1978 said: “We need to observe Pentecost every day. It will always be Pentecost in the church, provided the church lets the beauty of the Holy Spirit shine forth from her countenance”.

May the gift of the Holy Spirit bring us the language of love, hope, wisdom, peace and more…!
