CAMINO – SAINT OLIVER WALK

YEAR OF CONSECRATED LIFE

The Knights of St. Columbanus together with the Priests and Religious communities of Drogheda organised the St. Oliver Walk to commemorate the Year of Consecrated Life. We now know that 744 pilgrims from thirteen countries (including Uganda, Australia, Poland, Spain and France) had their passports stamped in seven churches in the town and received a certificate of completion in St. Peter’s Church where the relics of St. Oliver Plunkett are contained.  The youngest pilgrim was 6 months and the oldest 82 years.  A map of the town was provided for each pilgrim in a booklet which gave the location and a brief history of each religious community who had been established in in Drogheda since the early twelve hundreds.
