Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC)

JPIC painting by Janeen Earley FMDMIn many ways this phrase captures the mission of the Franciscan Family. Francis had a profound respect for all life. He experienced true solidarity with the poor and marginalised. Francis tried to live very simply embracing ‘Lady Poverty’, and making peace in his every encounter be it with a sultan or sinner; beggar or bishop. It is these values which inspire our JPIC efforts. We work to bring about justice and peace in our world, to end violence and war, poverty and oppression and the destruction of our planet.

This work may be done in an individual community or at national or international level but our sense of JPIC, as Franciscans, must begin with a desire for that peace and integrity within our own hearts.
