Early beginnings

The FMDM Sisters (Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood)  have served in Beda College since 1960, when the present building first opened. The pioneer community arrived to get the new premises ready for students who were transferring from the previous Barberini site.

Over the years, the ministry of the Sisters has changed and besides being a prayerful and supportive presence for the staff and students, the community feel privileged to be a part of the life of the College in various ways. Currently there are two sisters in the community – Carmel Spratt and Dorothy Johnson.
