Early beginnings

The FMDM Sisters (Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood)  have served in Beda College since 1960, when the present building first opened. The pioneer community arrived to get the new premises ready for students who were transferring from the previous Barberini site.

Over the years, the role of FMDM Sisters has changed considerably. They feel privileged to be a part of the College. Sister Carmel Spratt who has been alone for some time has now been joined by Sister Mary Jean Rogers. The sisters work in Beda College library and give special assistance to students whose first language is not English. The students share this sentiment: “The sisters are a wonderful presence among us.”
