Staycation in Ladywell

Staycation Ladywell

Mayor and Jane front

STAY-CATION has become popular for nearly a decade in England when families choose to stay in their own country for vacation. It is less stressful than travelling abroad and besides it is cheaper also. The Town Council in Godalming organised many events from 5 – 12 August and since Ladywell Convent is in Godalming, the Town Council posted this event – Ladywell Convent Open Afternoon: Visit a lovely old manor house with its beautiful chapel, meet some of the sisters and hear about the history of their mission, tour the house and garden and then enjoy a scrumptious cream tea. All ages welcome.

On Tuesday 8th August, the sisters in Ladywell Convent welcomed over 125 visitors and this included the Mayor of Godalming, Councillor Simon Thornton. Although the afternoon was overcast, the rain kept away and visitors were able to venture outside the beautiful building of Ladywell Convent for the tour. Many visitors were delighted with their visit and when asked which part of the afternoon was the best, most of them said “all of it”. Besides a very welcome ‘cup of tea’ and scones with strawberries and cream, visitors viewed the history of Ladywell on the big screen with Sr. Frances Hall as the commentator. There were homemade lavender bags, cards and plants for display and sale and these went very fast. To view more photos click here Staycation in Ladywell Convent GODALMING
